Seward Halloween Parade

We played games and marched around the Seward neighborhood Friday with some of Pipers school friends. They did a great job with a police escort and some very, VERY! Creative costumes. My favorite was 2 little boys dressed up as racecars. I could not do their homemade costume justice by explaining it but boy was it awesome. Their was a pretty cool robot too that you can see in one of the pictures if you look hard enough.

Harvest Party!

Today all my corn husk making came to an end with Pipers Harvest Party. I had soooo much fun organizing the party and it was a great success. Kudos to me! Everyone was so engaged with the art and games that we had no time for the Harvest Bingo I brought, so they will have that to do tomorrow. We did apple prints, leaf and name placemats, a pumpkin ring toss (rings on the stems of pumpkins, super great idea I found), tattoos, apple crisp making and of course, corn husk dolls. It was amazing to see how creative kids got with the clothes, faces and decorating of the dolls. Piper felt alot of ownership in the party and manned the tattoo station for about 15 minutes with her friend Brenna. I cannot wait to do another party!!!!!I am not sure who had more fun, me or the kids???? Pictures soon!

This week and weekend, we said so long to our new friends at soccer! Soccer season has finished. I enjoyed being an assistant coach this year and am looking forward to doing it again next year if needed. Piper seemed lukewarm to soccer this year. She wore a dress or skirt every game and we often wondered at the games if she knew she was at a soccer game. She was definitely more interested in chit chatting with her teammates and adjusting her beautiful locks! Atticus was very interested in soccer but hesitant, understandably so, he was a 4 year old dude playing with the 5 and 6 year olds. We had a great group of kids this year! Really great attitudes and smiles despite being 0 and 6. We had a great season!
This weekend the kids enjoyed Kids Make a Differance. They decorated boxes for HIV/AIDS patients to have food delivered in. I love that the Holmes have put together such a great service oriented group. What a pleasure we think it is to be involved in it! Pictures will come soon.
The kids went to Zoo Boo this year with grandma while Chris and I went to Jen and Matts Reception. Chris and I had a wonderful time hanging out with Jeff and Tina and dancing to cheesy old time music.
This week I am planning a Fall Harvest party for Pipers kindergarten! I am a bit anxious about getting everything together but am very excited to meet the kids in her class and see the kids in action!!

Rockstar is Sleeping...

Sweet little Mazie is very, very talkative lately from about 12;00 a.m, yes a.m, until usually about 4a.m. Of course, this has been very fun. Mazie will alternate between screaming and yapping. Last night, she was telling me who was sleeping; Rockstar sleeping, Piper sleeping (how, i don't know), Daddy sleeping (Ummm, not really) and Atticus sleeping. She does not say Mazie sleeping. Then she says " Bed" and points to our bed and "sleep in bed". She does not want to sleep in the crib and she tells me so. Mazies bed is about 5 feet, if even, from our bed. I can reach from the foot of the bed and almost touch her, she could not be any closer to us without being in our bed. She is a greedy little girl. When we do bring her to bed she laughs, snuggles and plays. Doesn't really sleep there either. I guess Mazie just does not sleep. the end.

Mazie has been impressing us all with her ever growing vocabularly. As it goes with 2 year olds she tends to focus on the negative : " I don't want it", "NO", "Stop it" and " Go Away, I do myself" are favorites. She has also started dressing herself, which is nice as she has been UNdressing herself for quite awhile. Often she will put on pants, always both legs through the same hole, over the pants she already has on. The best part is that this will keep her occupied for quite awhile. When we are getting ready to leave, she ALWAYS! sticks on a pair of shoes, any shoes available. My shoes, Atticus' shoes, Pipers shoes, even Chris' she is not picky. She is adamant about not wearing coats or diapers. Unfortunately she is also adamant about not going in the potty, when you suggest it she gives a firm NO, I dont want to. We have been working with Mazie, to treat others gently. She is more prone to hitting and pinching than my other kids were. She is a bit of a bully and her friend (or maybe not so much) Asher, I believe,is afraid of her. It is hard to believe, but if someone is playing with something she wants, or on a piece of playground equipment she will go and hit them. And grunt while she does it. When you tell her to be gentle and take her away from the situation she smiles sweetly and says "kisses". And so goes her relationship with Rockstar. They work together to cause mischief, mainly getting snacks. As in, Mazie gets snacks for Rockstar. Rockstar is her right hand man, he follows her everywhere. When he is not with her she calls for him. However, she treats him like a live doll, she bathes him with wipes, brushes his hair, pulls his hair and kisses his mouth.When Mazie gets mad, she pulls his hair and pinches him and when, you say "Gentle Mazie" she gives him a kiss where she pinched him and says "orry rockstar". Rockstar is a very patient, sweet dog.

Atticus

 

 

 

 

Has been making us all smile. He is very witty, like his dad, and constantly doing verbal spars, sweetly. For instance, we went to the doctor for stich removal and an ear check. The dr. said " ok, lets look at your ears" Atticus replied " hey, lets look at YOUR ears, hmmm (with finger on chin)". At the barbershop Atticus told the barber " you guys sure give good haircuts." Funny. He also likes to tell jokes, that all end in some variation including some sort of potty talk. He is very into riding his scooter, and is actually quite good. He can get some air on the thing and actually rides the scooter on the skateboard ramp. I tried to get pictures but he is too fast, I did however, get a wipeout!

Lance in the kids took the kids to walk with sticks and snack on crabapples.......luckily, no bellyaches followed.

We had a blast at the festival. The kids rode rides (old time rides with no engines) most notably a camel. They wanted to ride an elephant, but, they are too big for me. We ate some great food, especially fried falafel. YUM! and watched jugglers and other fun shows.
