Pipers First Dance Recital on a real stage
was absolutely adorable. Piper hammed it up, especially during ballet. She was thrilled to get a medal at the end of the recital for participating for 3 years. This, shocked her and was extra special to her because only a small group of kids got them. She also loved getting flowers after her show. They encourage makeup during the show and I felt like I got a glimpse of what a teenage Piper will look like! I think I definitely need to treasure these younger years.....I am going to try to post one of the videos soon.

Bye Bye Tonsils and Adenoids...
Atticus had surgery on Friday to remove his tonsils and adenoids and to place tubes in his ears. This is to, hopefully, reduce the number of tonsil infections he has which is: MANY!!! He started off the day happy as can be letting Dr.Rex know that he would be eating plenty of popsicles and ice cream and sharing that the procedure would not hurt. Of course, we had to explain to him that it very well might be uncomfortable but yes, he could eat all the treats he wants. Friday night, he ate a ton. Yesterday, not so much. Today we are somewhere in the middle. As long as we are on top of the pain meds, he is good. As you can imagine, his excitement over unlimited popsicles has waned. As has his love of ice cream. So we are having a tough time getting him fluids of any sort and of getting him to take his medicine. He understands that the medicine makes his throat feel better but still does not agree that it is worth the hurt. Poor guy. And unfortunately, he is not bribeable. Nor will he take the medicine mixed with anything because he doesn't want to eat anything. Awww, it will get better. Piper on the other hand is thrilled that we have a refridgerator filled with treats. Mazie too. Mazie can now say popsicle and does not understand why she cannot eat popsicles all day. She walks to the fridge, points and says popsicle, when you dont get her one she throws a tantrum. Piper has been pretty crabby about Atticus' surgery. She feels that she is getting a raw deal, and it is " not fair". On surgery day; she rode rides at the MOA and went to the Mill city museum but was mad that Atticus got a popsicle at the hospital and she only got a lollipop, and dress at the disney store. I may be wrong, but I think Atticus would surely have switched places with her :)

First Day of Summer!!!

Sooo, Soooo happy to have Piper home! For many selfish reasons. First, I can sleep in! Today, I slept until wait, wait 9:30. HOLY COW!! Right? Yes. I did not have to hurry to get up, Mazie slept until 9:39 with me. Chris got Piper and Atticus breakfast and then they played. Solo. I did not have to do cartwheels and juggle. They just played. Thanks guys. Next it is nice to have her home because I do not have to drive to Whittier in the morning, loading everyone into the car a total of 4 times. That gets tiring. Often, I would just drop Piper off, especially in the winter. But going in was worth the effort in that I could chat with Ms. Lucio to see how Piper was doing. Lastly, Atticus is excited to have Piper home! She is much more fun than I am. Today we went bird watching, we have been trying to find a blue jay. I know they are around but we cant find it. The kids have gone to all of our neighbors house asking what birds they have seen recently and made a list. So we educated ourselves on those birds and have been trying to find them. So far we have seen: Redwing blackbird, Cardinal, Sparrow, Warbler and Heron. But no Mr. Bluejay. After bird watching the kids were begging for our little pool which I did not have the energy to unbury and clean so while I was doing the dishes they turned our sled into a pool. Creative little creatures they are. What is even funnier is that the neighbor girl came over to play in the sled pool too!!!

Rice Park Childrens Festival
This goes by a different name, but I cannot think of it. It is the best festival in the metro though, and still remains small and manageable. We love it. It is bustling with arts, crafts, dance and theatre. Piper loves the art projects and Atticus loved the hip hop dancing.
Memorial Day

Holy hiatus! I have not been blogging because of my new fancy phone! I have been using it take photos, and just TODAY, learned how to get my photos from the phone to here. Cheers to that! So, now I will play catch up. Starting with Memorial Day weekend. We had many plans for Memorial Day, including a hop over to a friends cabin, however, ear infections won over and we stayed home to administer antibiotics to Mazie and Atticus. Poor little Mazie had a nasty double ear infection. I was completely clueless it all made sense though when I recalled her walking down the bench at T- ball hitting everyone. I thought she was just a crabby kid, like her dad. Guess she had something to be crabby about. On that note, Mazie had her 18 month appt. the other day! She has about 6 or 7 teeth all about to pop. Dr. Fagre said she should have a full mug in a couple of weeks!! Anyway, on the day before memorial day Nell took mazie and piper for a sleepover and we took Atticus on a bikeride to Lake Harriet. Kudos to him he made it to Harriet and back on the tag-a-long with not a single complaint!! We also enjoyed a great dinner at Buster's with just the 3 of us! Memorial Day we had some neighbors over for a bit and grilled out. It was lovely, even without the trip.
