Pipers Dance Recital

I had to work so Chris bravely took the crew by himself. We did not get pictures of Piper dancing because at the exact point that she started to dance a friend came by and said hello. Chris talked for a quick second and missed Piper. Oops. We are confident that she danced splendidly and beautifully. She did a special show for me this morning...showing me her proudest move: the skittle and scurry.

Swimming in Lake Nokomis

Or...not swimming because my limbs were frozen. I chose the above picture because it appears that I am swimming and only we will know that it is only an illusion. The kids swam though, they were thrilled! and soaked! in their clothes! while Chris was on the phone talking to Levi (who is in Iraq). Chris was there to save me if I was drowning.

Goofball thinks she can stand....

HA! She will be wearing slippery, footed pjs from now on and never be placed by sturdy inanimate objects that facilitate standing!

First Day of Preschool...

Posted by Picasa

Atticus did great on his first day of preschool! It is summer school so most of the kids in the class know each other and have been going, so Atticus is going for 3 weeks then will have the summer off before he starts up again in the fall. The first day, Dolly (the director) brought him outside to see Piper and that helped out alot he cried " outside but not inside" as Atticus said. No tears on day 2 and 3. Luckily, one of his friends, Ella, is in the same class and that offers him some comfort as well, just knowing that she is there. thanks Ella!! It was fun to see his art projects (very deliberate!) and how different his style is from Pipers (ecclectic).

Taylors Falls

We went for a spontaneous road trip to Taylors Falls on Saturday. We had a picnic lunch and then explored the potholes. The kids loved hiking on the rocks and I was pleased to not have had a coronary incident. Piper and Atticus were both mesmerized by the climbers and both declared that they would be doing it as well when they are bigger. The potholes were impressive, we even noticed some ice in one of them that had not melted yet. After hiking we stopped in Chisago and played at a pretty sweet slide. I think Atticus says it all with closed eyes and scabbed, dirty knees.

Playgroup Last Week

Playgroup landed on a perfect, warm but VERY windy day last week. The wind was so intense that a branch fell off a tree into the yard. Luckily, none of the kids were near and it wedged itself onto the fence which was the perfect place for our group of explores to investigate the fallen limb.

Our new patio door!!!

We added a patio door to the dining room! Heres a picture of Piper and Atticus playing builder while I watch them from the dining room!!! We have been loving the weather, we were outside all today and have the pink skin (even with spf 30) to prove it! Today our Chaska friends came for a visit and we played outside and had a picnic. This was followed by an extended trip to the park. We planned to play for 20 minutes and ended up staying for 2hours. OOPS! This made us late for our other obligations but the sunshine called and I worked the last 3 days so some fun was in order. News on the Mazie front is that she has taken to the crib. FINALLY. she has also taken to cheerios! and PUFFS! but is not so excited about her orange foods. I still have trouble understanding how a child could dislike a sweet potatoe or a carrot! So, the plan is to keep trying. Piper has been quite the caretaker for Mazie..at least twice a day she removes the lint from between Mazies little toes like a mother monkey. She also enjoys feeding Mazie her solids. I am loving that as is Mazie who loves interacting with her brother and sister. I am a little concerned about Mazies mobility ambitions. I have caught her several times with her knees underneath her chest trying to push off. I certainly hope that she got the memo to take her time with these things......while I want her to move about freely we are not in a hurry.

The last day of preschool

Today was Pipers last day of preschool!! We celebrated last week with a picnic at the infamous bunny....we have the Cagles to thank for the infatuation they have with the bunny. Piper and Atticus will have 3 weeks of summer school coming up... Atticus is already saying " I think I will cry at preschool because I dont want you to go". I appreciate his articulating his feelings but I hope that he will not feel the need to cry!
