Bob

Since seeing Bob Live, Atticus' enthusiasm for all things Bob has been amped up significantly. He is now back to wearing his hard hat and toolbelt everywhere. This is ok, however, I am making a list in my mind of the necessary objects he is needing to fuel a placated existance. At present, we need to know the whereabouts of his: dog, toolbelt, hard hat, Hammer (this is a must have) wrench, screwdriver and flashlight. At bedtime, he is requesting all of the above with his Thomas pillow, blue blanket and a pacifier please. Geez.

The other day, I asked Atticus to get his shoes on and left the room to go get Mazies outfit for the day. When I returned, Atticus had put on his ice skates. Which, are appropriate given the current state of our sidewalk, but since the iceskates where tied together (look closely) he had a bit of trouble ambulating.

Bob the Builder

Atticus took his first trip to the theatre on Saturday. To see, obviously, Bob the Builder. In a sea of hardhats I am happy to say that Atticus stood out. In preparation for " Bobs House" he got his toolbelt ready with 2 screwdrivers, a wrench, real flashlight, his BTB sweatshirt and hardhat. There were quite a few hardhats but we did not see anyone as hard core groupy as Atticus. Go Big or Go Home is the Campbell motto. When we got to our seats Atticus chatted up all the mini Bob's surrounding us. His enthusiasm was a bit overwhelming for the other kids. He was talking a mile a minute about seeing dizzy, scoop, farmer pickles and etc. But he was a hoot. They played the song " Im so Dizzy" which is an older popsong and Atticus thought they were singing "I see dizzy", he thought it was a BTB tune and sung along giddily. We had amazing seats, I mean we could almost touch Bob. Of course, I would be more interested in having E row seats with Bob Dylan or Jenny Lewis or any number of other acts but hey, once again, Go Big or Go Home. Atticus was appreciative. Piper was lucky enough to score the same luxury when she saw her 2 year old idol Barney. When the theme song started Atticus nearly fell out of his seat. For one, it was loud. But also because he was super stoked to see Bob. I think he had his mouth open the whole time and said, no yelled, each characters name as they made their grand entrance. The show was interactive, so Atticus got to yell, scream and dance like a true groupy. Good times.

I was reprimanded for taking pictures so did not get any of the show, however, I did get a small video that is mostly of the lighting because I was trying not to get caught. Chris really wanted to get a glimpse as he had wanted to go with Atticus too. Taking Atticus to see BTB is most likely comparable to taking Piper to Disneyland. This was pure joy for Atticus.

But, Chris got to see Barney so it was my turn.

After the show, Atticus debriefed Chris with a very fast, very challenging to understand synopsis of the show. Complete with the Wendy, Scoop and Dizzy dance moves. If you see him, you should ask him to show you the moves, they are pretty cute. He loved it. Next up, I plan to take Piper to a real play at the Children's Theatre. I am so excited to share the theatre with the kids, I love going!!!!

Playgroup

I hosted playgroup this week for the first time in quite awhile. Piper and Atticus were thrilled to have their friends over and afterwards Caelan stayed for a sleep over!! The girls stayed up until 11:00pm which I felt was pretty good considering how awake they were at 10:50pm. They literally were jumping on the bed one minute and sound asleep 2 minutes later. I spent some time thinking about what the catalyst was for the awake to sleep transition but couldnt even begin to fathom. They were pretty cute though telling each other stories and shouting " Poop" when they couldnt think of anything else to say. The word " Poop" seems to say it all to a 4 year old. Piper and Caelan play together so well...interestingly Atticus was a bit a challenge. He really wanted to get Caelans attention and seemed to feel that pulling her hair and hitting her on the head with various hard objects was the answer. This enabled him to spend a few meditative minutes on the steps during Caelans visits. By the end of the sleepover Atticus was kicking and then sitting without parental intervention. He knew he was going to the step. I am wondering if that means the step is ineffective?

Auntie Em's

I very bravely took all three of my offspring to Auntie Em's for storytime on Monday. I was pleasantly surprised by both Piper and Atticus' attentiveness. They both seemed genuinely interested in the stories and the music!!! After 30 minutes of music and storytime they requested more books! We read a book about Obama, while snacking on animal crackers and drinking coffee(me, not them)....perfect!
