Student of the Month
Piper had her "Student of the Month" ceremony today at Whittier IB in Minneapolis. She received the award for demonstrating the IB attitude of caring. She has been vying for this all year, so we were glad to go, she was VERY excited and even wore her new button to Atticus' birthday party this weekend! Every month she told me " I might be student of the month next month" she was very patient and positive in waiting. Hurray for Piper, we are soooo proud of you. You are caring everyday.

Hiking
was the word of the weekend. We enjoyed a great 1/2 day on the trails out by Fort Snelling. We explored the marshes, birds and abandoned bridges. Fun. Mazie patiently stayed in the stroller for the hike while Piper and Atticus ran around and had a blast. We are preparing for a trip to gooseberry falls next month! Chris spent the weekend building us a firepit with his friend Dallas, it turned out beautiful and we are excited to have friends over to roast corn and marshmellows!!!

Spring Break
Was awesome!!!!! Atticus and I (probably Mazie too) were thrilled to have Piper home all week. We were also overjoyed at the sunny, warm days we enjoyed. Piper and Atticus spent much of the break in their Jake and Emily alter egos playing "Jake and Emily get hurt" and " Jake and Emily save the day". I love watching them play together, they really are best friends which makes the challenge of having 2 so close together when they were little well worth it. Along with enjoying biking, hiking, and the park we got together with friends and even had a couple of grill outs and 1 fire in our in progress firepit, although, I unfortunately was out for that one, sick in bed with a nasty bug. Mazie continues to keep us alert, she still cannot get enough climbing. She has learned to pull out our dining room chairs to climb onto the table and now has started to talk. Mainly she says "want that" and points to everything, actually mainly food. Then, when she realizes she cannot have it (i.e dried noodles, uncooked lentils) she throws herself on the floor for a kicking tantrum (seems a little early for this, but whatever, she is number 3 guess she learned quick). She is a sweet little dancer though, and always will to bust a move with some spins. She is really keen on pointing out dogs, elmo and Piper. She loves to call for Piper. On a very sweet Mazie note, Atticus fell down the other day and was crying and Mazie brought over his beloved doggy. So sweet.
This week we are back to reality, Atticus has a sore throat, Piper is back in school and Chris is back to meetings and work. So sad, but summer is only 10 weeks away!!!!!!!

Bike Ride
Chris surprised us yesterday by taking the day off, we were very excited to enjoy the day outside as a family. We went for our first family ride of the season after Chris Stewart fixed our broken trailer seat by sewing in a pair of jeans. Our burley looked a little funny but worked good enough! Mazie got her first ride in the trailer after protesting loudly about her helmet and nearly strangling herself trying to get it off. In the end, she won this battle. We will be getting her a helmet that fits her a little better and hopefully will be more enticing. Atticus and Mazie enjoyed the trailer, while Piper rocked some pretty good size hills on the way to Minnehaha Falls, exhausted, Piper was not keen on biking home but Atticus stepped up and made the breezy ride home, taking advantage of the sweet downhills that Piper had ridden up! We did a pitstop at Dairy Queen which made everyone smile
Fond Du Lac
We had a great time in Fond Du Lac 2 weekends ago. The kids played with Declan and new cousin Molli. Nana also took the whole crew bowling. Which seemed very perilous. I thought for sure someone would be breaking a toe. Mazie had fun using the alley as a slip in slide. It was not until we got home that I remember, in the past, we have used a ramp for bowling ease....aww, that was the difference. Despite the missing ramp we had a great time and Nana won!
